Chapter 4: Rehabilitation
"OH MY GOD!"
I jumped at the sound of my aunt's voice. She had woken me out of a weird, but interesting dream. Sam had turned out to be a werewolf, and we had 'done it' while he was in his wolf form. Then he took me out hunting with him. Then we came back and basically slept together. I opened my eyes and saw what had her in hysterics. I was resting with my head and hand on Sam's chest. One of his arm was wrapped around me and the other behind his head.
Maybe it wasn't a dream.
I was still in my under clothes and Sam barely had anything on. His torn shorts and boxers (he's a boxer guy?) barely covered his 'little friend'. To any overactive teen or experienced adult it look like I had just lost my virginity to Sam. Even though I been lost that, but that's a story for another day. I nudged Sam awake.
"Sam? Sammy get up."
"Huh? Amy? What (yawn) what's up?"
"Look who's in the doorway." He obeyed me and I felt his body stiffen under me.
"Hey Ms. Cryor."
"Don't 'Hey' me Samuel. I want you out of my house right now." She glared at me.
"You. Downstairs. Now."
Samuel and I both got off the bed. I saw Ashley's eyes go wide when she saw the several bruises on my battered, abused body. We both went downstairs. Sam stopped and kissed me. "I'll see you at school
.." He eyed Ashley. "Or maybe not." He turned to leave. "No, I think you should stay Samuel. I would like to talk to you about the bruises on my niece's body." Sam shrugged and sat next to me on the couch. He threw his arm over me. Was he trying to get us killed?
-I'm a werewolf. I'm pretty sure I can handle your aunt.
Before I could answer, Ashley started with her 'Sex is bad' talk. "I am VERY disappointed in you young lady. You come home yesterday with blood gushing from your neck, and screaming about some kind of monster." I glanced at Sam. "Now I see it was some ploy. Some evil plot to sneak your little boy toy in here. And get busy." "Sam isn't just a boy toy. I love him. And it isn't what you think." For some reason it bothered me that she called him a boy toy. Sam was much more than that. "The evidence I see says otherwise. Amy you are NAKED, and you were sleeping in the same bed as a NAKED boy. What am I supposed to think?" I didn't say anything. There was nothing I could say that wouldn't get me into more trouble. "You're coming with me right now." She grabbed my arm and pulled me off the couch. What we plan to do was so obvious she didn't have to say it out loud. I pulled away.
"I'm so not pregnant."
For a brief second I remembered my dream. The part where I'm hugely pregnant and Sam had his arms wrapped around me. Both of our eyes blood red. Out the corner of my eye, I saw Sam give me a WTF look. He must have seen it too. "How do you know?" "Because we didn't do anything!" I said it too fast for her to ever believe me. "So what? You just decided for the hell of it to get naked and go to sleep in the same bed?" "It wasn't like that." "Explain it to me then Amy. If I'm so wrong." I crossed me arms over my chest. "You-You wouldn't understand. You never do." "What do you want me to understand?" Let's see where to start: my boyfriend's a werewolf, he and his pack killed your sister and brother-in-law .Oh, and I had this weird dream that I was a werewolf too, I killed you and Alex. And it was all because I was pregnant. I couldn't say that, she probably think I was crazy. "Nothing. You wouldn't get it anyway."
-THAT'S what your dream was about?
Stay out of my head, unless you want to help me.
-What do you want me to do?
I don't know anything will do. Just do something before she drags me off to the ER to take a pregnancy test.
-I doubt you'd go to the ER.
Shut up wolf boy. Or I'll tell her how you 'convinced' me that this was a good idea.
-Your mean under pressure.
Then take the effing pressure away!
"Ms. Cryor let me explain
" "I don't want to hear anything from you. Unless you want to explain why Amy's black and blue all over."
I rolled my eyes. You're hopeless. Looks like I have to dig my way out of this hole.
Ashley keep looking from my face to my stomach. "I'm not pregnant!" She ignored me, and turned back to Sam. "I'm still waiting for an answer." Sam shrugged. "Things just got too rough that's all. And I'm just a little stronger than she is. That's why she has the worst of it." I blinked at Sam. He was able to lie so smoothly. I was so going to make him teach me that. Ashley folded her arms over her chest. "I don't want you seeing my niece anymore." Sam got off the couch and stood in front of Ashley. I moved closer to see what he was doing that had Ashley's face white. Sam snarled as he moved closer to my terrified aunt. The frightened woman stumbling backwards into a nearby chair; thank god it was there. "What are you?!?" Sam answered her with a snarl. I looked at my boyfriend horrified. What the hell are you doing?!? You're going to send her into cardiac arrest.
I shut right up and I pouted a little. I was really getting sick and tired of having him yell at me. Sam spoke to Ashley in this scary-deformed voice. "I'll do whatever the hell I want human. And if I choose to abuse my mate then so be it." "Hey now wait just a minute-" He glared at me which scared me to silence. "I thought I told you to shut up." He turned back to Ashley. "I do what I want. Whenever the hell I want to do it. Amy is mine now and you will not interfere what fate has decided. Understand?" She nodded. Sam snarled and his eyes turned blood red again. His fangs were on his lips. "Understand?"
He smiled. "You belong to me now as well. You do what I say, when I say it. Understand?"
Sam turned to me and I flinched away from his hand. He ignored this and grabbed me by my neck. Ashley shot up from where Sam had put her. More worried about my life than hers. What was Sam doing? He opened that cruel mouth again and bite me. In the same place he had last time. But this time was different; it didn't hurt like the first time. I WANTED Sam to drink my blood. It felt like it was my job to sustain him. I moaned as the bite turned from a bite to a kiss, he was now sucking on my neck. The actual bite wound already closed. I leaned into him as he sucked harder. He pulled away, a smile playing on his lips. Which were covered with my blood. He kissed me on the mouth. I wrapped my arms around his neck as I kissed him back. He turned away from me to address Ashley. I looked too. She was horrified as she starred at her new 'master' and her niece." "Amy what are you doing? He's a-a monster." I smiled softly. "I know Ashley." I looked back at Sam. "He's my monster." He smiled and suddenly his lips were too busy to do anything else. He pulled away again. "Come on. Time to go to school." He led me upstairs. Leaving a very confused and frightened Ashley behind. Sam laid across my bed. I sat next to him, looking down at my possessive boyfriend. He sighed. "Go ahead. Let it out."
"What the hell was that? Since when do I belong to you? Since when do you go around scaring the hell out of 29-year-old women? Why did you yell at me? I told you how I felt about that. Since when can you 'abuse your mate' any way you want? We can stop this right now if you think you're going to be abusing me anytime you feel like it. And what's with the neck bite. Are you part vampire too? And what's with decorating my neck with all the hickey. I still have to go to school with all these marks. Well? Answer me." He sighed and sat up. "Can you repeat the question?" I glared at him. He chuckled. "Let's see. You've always belonged to me. And please let me answer all your questions before you say anything." He saw that I was about to protest again. "I had to get rough with Ashley, this way you won't have to lie to her." "So you nearly gave my aunt a heart attack for my benefit?" He rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry I yelled at you. I was just trying to stay in character. And that abuse you part was to make Ashley afraid of me, showing her how powerless she is against me. I bit you for the same reason. But you turned it into a make out session. And the hickey thing
well you can think about that at school." "School? Where going today? What about my hic- I mean the bruises." "You'll be fine. And besides, I'm sure the student body will come up with its own explanation. I mean we are both scratched up. But I think you're more worried about the hickey, than the bruises." I frowned. Why was he so upset? Just because I don't want to broadcast the fact that he gave me a hickey. "I'll be right back." "Where you going?" "I have to wake up Alex. It's routine you know?" I went and knocked on his door. He let out a groan. I rolled my eyes, and let myself in. He was laying face up. "Okay baby bro. Time to get up." I opened his curtains. He groaned and threw his pillow at me.
Wonderful, I have a werewolf for a boyfriend; and a vampire for a brother.
"Leave me alone. Isn't your boyfriend still here? Don't you have to go and scream his name or something?" I felt my face flush. Did everyone know about my sex life?
"Sorry, we're done till later. But it's time to go to school. I'm not gonna let you fluke out. You're my responsibility; whether I like it or not." He groaned again. "But you ditch all the time." "Stop whining. I'm also older, and smarter than you are. I still get straight A's. So come on get up." I threw the pillow back at him before I left. I went back to my room. Sam was stretched out on my bed. His face buried in one of my pillows; his legs twitching. "You are such an animal." I sat next to him, running my hand through his hair. He sat up and kissed my chin. "What can I say? I was raised by wolves." I smiled. "Why are you sniffing my pillows like its heroin?" "I like your scent. It's hard to describe, but it calms me. But enough about my senses; get dress. I'll be back in a few minutes." "Wait. You don't have to go." "What? I'm supposed to go to school like this." He motioned to his barely clothed body. My eyes lingered on his chest then moving down to look at his hardly clothed privates. He turned is body away from me, so I couldn't see his 'little friend'. I smiled when I noticed the hole in the back of his pants, where his tail had been. I could get back at him. He bite my butt, it would only be fair if I squeezed his. The suddenly I was going over the time we spent together. How he held me, how he kissed me. I smiled. He spun around and pushed me down against the bed. He looked down at me with a disapproving look on his face.
"What's your deal?"
"You; I thought we promised each other to keep our fantasies to ourselves." I shrugged. "It wasn't a fantasy. So it doesn't count." He rolled his eyes. "Whatever I have to go and change, unless you want EVERY girl in the whole school thinking about me like you just were." I growled at the thought. If any of those bitches even think about my mate then I'd kick their ass. He smiled at me while one eyebrow rose.
I smiled up at him. "But you could wear that for my birthday." He rolled his eyes. "Until then, you can borrow some of Alex's clothes; and if they're too small some of my dad's clothes are still here. You can see if they fit." He smiled. "I'll see what I can do." After he got dressed, and watched me get dressed. We walked to school. I told Ashley that Alex was still hung over and should no sign of getting up. She nodded and stared at Sam the whole time I talked. "You never got your car back?" "I did. It's parked outside my house right now. Why?" "It's just you never let me walk. You're always there with your car." He put his arm around me. "I'm not allowed to walk my girlfriend to school?" I leaned into his touch. "You've gotten better at controlling the 'flow'. You don't want me in your head that bad." "It's not that. It's just some of the thoughts I think. You wouldn't like some of them." "Like what?" I pouted playfully. If he wanted to know so badly, how about I give him something that will ban him out of my head for good; I sighed. "Fine if you want to know so badly." He raised an eyebrow at me. I played back the memories I had from when Zeke and I were together. Lingering on the few times he was able to get into my pants. And how I screamed his name like I had Samuel last night; He snarled as he took it all in, His eyes glowing red with his anger. "THAT'S what you think about?" He said this through his teeth. "Sometimes; Zeke was the only boyfriend I had to
actually get into my pants. Besides you of course; but sometimes I compare."
He pulled me to a stop; his jealously eating him alive. "And nothing. I'll let you think about that during school since I have to walk around with your hickey on my neck." He growled as I walked away.
-You're doing this on purpose. You're teasing me, punishing me.
"Is it working?" I called over my shoulder. Sam caught up with me and kept pace easily. "Yes unfortunately. A part of me thinks you're lying. That you just made up those thoughts to make me jealous. But then there's another part, thinking that those memories are real. And just thinking that he touched you like that drives me up a wall." I laughed at his jealousy. We were only a block away from school now. I wonder
"Hey, how fast are you? I mean without the full moon?" "Pretty fast I guess. I could beat an Olympic runner by 5 seconds if I really wanted to." He looked at me over the sunglasses that he borrowed from Alex. "Why?"
I grabbed his sunglasses and ran towards the school.
I was pretty sure he was following me. I laughed as I rounded another corner. The school was in full view and there was no way he catch a track star in the final lap.
-Give those back. The sun is frying my eyes. I'm a nocturnal animal remember?
"You want them come and get'em." I could hear him behind me. I snuck a glance back at him. He wasn't that far behind me, but enough not for him to be able to catch me before I got to school. I tore into the parking lot just as he caught me by the waist. I laughed as he picked me up clear off the ground. He took the glasses back then put me back down. I was completely aware of all the staring students but screw them. "Congrats. You win the grand prize." "And what's that a migraine." He settled the glasses on his face. "No. A kiss." I kissed him on the lips. I then kissed his neck. If I have to wear his hickey, he could wear mine.
-Sounds good to me.
I smiled into his neck then I began to suck. When I pulled away, he had a hickey on his neck. He held me by my waist and placed his forehead on mine.
"We'll isn't that sweet."
I pulled away from Sam and glared at Zeke. It was too early to be picking a fight; especially since his face was still looked kind of swollen. "What do you want Zeke? You come so Sam can rearrange your face again." "Very funny. But no; I'm here to repay your boyfriend for roughing me up. I was off my game yesterday, but now I'm ready." I rolled my eyes. Zeke was off his game every day. Sam let go of me and stepped to Zeke. Suddenly I got several violent images with Zeke mangled or twisted into a bloody pulp. I looked at Sam. He was glaring at Zeke. His teeth
excuse me fangs bared. I stepped in-between the two boys. "Break up you two. We don't need a repeat of the fight that happened Wednesday." Both of them ignored me.
-My mate. I won't let him take my mate.
I rolled my eyes. Both boys pushed me out of the way, not wanting me to get hurt. Zeke puffed out his chest, trying to make him self look bigger. "Let's go big boy. Step." Sam pushed Zeke. I frowned. He said step, not push. Sam ignored me, and then picked up Zeke by his collar. "He-Hey! Put me down!"
"Maurice and Cyrus are fighting again!"
I rolled my eyes, déjà vu much?
I grabbed Sam's wrist, he looked down at me. The aggression bleeding out of his gaze. He dropped Zeke. "There's a perfect world shining in your eyes." I giggled as he nipped at my ear. He kissed my neck. Thus bringing Zeke's attention to my hickey. I glared at Sam, he just smirked at Zeke. Happy to show off the marks he gave me. Turning his head just far enough to show Zeke his hickey. "You're horrible." I stepped away from him. Zeke got all up in my face. "How could you let him do that to you? You better than him. Better than-"
He frowned. "You never wore my hickey all proud like that." I shrugged. "Things change I guess." Sam squeezed my butt. I glared at him. Not in public.
-Why not? Public affection is the best kind.
The first bell rang. I turned to go to class with Samuel.
"What would your parents think?"
My head snapped around to look at Zeke. A smile playing on his lips. He knew how much I hated people to talk about my mom and dad. "That's doesn't involve you." "Your right. But it does involve them." He looked up at the sky. His hands pressed together as if he were praying. I glared death at him. Kill him.
-I can't. Teachers are out here again. That would blow my secret.
I rolled my eyes. He wasn't considered about his secret at the first fight.
-I wasn't in my right mind at the first fight. I'm sane now.
Fine. I'd kill Zeke myself. I stepped towards him. I met him at eye-level. "Have you gotten taller?" Zeke eyed me. Probably, but that wasn't important. "What your parents didn't teach you any respect either? I'm talking to you 'Lily'." And that's what done me in. "Don't. Ever. Call. Me. That." "Why not? Only your dead dad can?"
"Dude lay off." Some of Zeke's friends were warning him not to push me.
Too late for that.
"Why? Am I getting to you 'Lily'? Am I making you mad?" "Burn. In. Hell." I grabbed his
throat. He screamed as I crushed his throat.
-What are you doing?!?
Finishing what you started. I glared death at Zeke. He gasped for air. The crowd was too stunned to move. Probably thinking I was going to let go. Not a chance in hell. I tightened my grip; Zeke's face going blue. Was I really this strong? "Amy that's enough." Sam was at my side. "Amy. I said that's enough you're killing him." I ignored Sam, this bastard was going to die, and he was going to die now. "This isn't what they'd want you to do. You're not a killer Amy." I let Zeke go. He gripped his throat as he stared at me. I noticed that my nails had cut into his throat. Tears blurred my vision.
This wasn't fair. He could talk smack about my parents but I can't give him a good smacking. Sam pulled me to his chest. "Come on. We have to go." He took my book bag from me and carried it to class. I sat in the back of History (25 minutes left) and put my ear plugs in. Blasting the loudest rock song I could find on my iPod. (I keep it in my book bag for emergencies like this one.) Sam sat next to me. His lips were moving but I didn't hear anything. Mr. Crooke stood in front of my desk. Sam pulled one of my earplugs out. "Amy, if you need some time to yourself-" "I'm fine. Really." I took the earplug back without looking at Sam. "Amy." I ignored him and put the earplug back in. I didn't want to talk to him.
-Amy take the head phones off.
I shook my head.
-I want to talk to you. And it would be easier if you could answer me back.
I shook my head again. He gave up and let me listen to my music. After history was out, Sam walked me to my Spanish class. He pulled both of my earplugs out. "What?" "Are you okay?" "I'm fine Sam. Really." "Okay. I'll see you after class." He leaned down to kiss me. I kissed him back quickly and went into class. I went to the back of the class. Then all hell broke loss.
Zeke and I share Spanish.
He came in with a neck brace, and apparently because of me. His neck hurts too much and whenever he moves it hurts. So he gets a free pass.
No work for him.
Then Maria stepped out to go and get an official.
Just in case.
Zeke smirked at me. "Say one thing and I swear to god I'll snap your neck. Sam isn't here to stop me." He saw how serious I was and suddenly he didn't want to sit in his normal seat in front of me. I put my head down, holding back my tears were giving me a headache.
-You sure you're okay?
Now I see what you meant last night. It is annoying to have someone keep asking you that. I heard him chuckle in my head.
-Nice to know that you see what you put me through. I'm still waiting for an answer.
Aren't you in math? Shouldn't you be learning?
-I could ask you the same thing.
Maria's too afraid of me at the moment. Everyone is, so I pretty much have a work free day.
-Amy, are you sure you're okay? You practically murdered Zeke. Not that I object.
I'm fine. Never been better. So just pay attention to Ms. Jackson and do your work.
-Actually we're taking a review test right now. Can you tell me the definition of a permutation?
I'm not going to cheat for you. You should have studied.
-I was a little busy with you at the moment.
I felt heat rush to my face. I opened my book bag and found my math notes. How about a deal? For every answer I give you. You give me an answer.
-Sounds fair. My Spanish is a little rusty through.
Not an answer about school. About you and what happened to my parents.
-I don't know
Fine, you can flunk Math. What do I care? I guess I have to try on my new Victoria's secret lingerie and pajamas alone. I got a brief picture of myself with the skimpiest, sluttish piece of lingerie I've ever seen. I knew he was probably weighing all his options. I smiled as he undressed me in his head and made me try on another piece of lingerie, this one was red. I lifted my head off the desk again. Using a piece of paper to record all the colors and styles Sam put me in. I was going to have to go shopping if he did agree to this.
-Fine. You first.
A permutation is an ordered arrangement of items. Now, how did you become a werewolf?
-I was born this way. You spell 'arrangement' with two e's right?
Yeah. How did your parents die? I want specifics this time.
-Wait. Turn 3 and 99/100 into a percent for me.
What do I look like? A calculator?
-Can you do it or not?
I rolled my eyes. 399%
-Thank you. And my parents died in while we were at war with another Clan. A clan is another term for other world country. Like I belong to the North American clan; which is made up of all the werewolves in North America. Derian can choose 1 of 3 pairs of pants and 1 of 4 shirts and 1 of 2 ties, how many different outfits can he make?
-It's a word problem. Can you do it for me?
Do 3*4*2. That'll give you 24. That's your answer.
-Thanks. Uh, where was I? So, my clan went to war with the Southeast Asia clan and while my parents were overseas I stayed with my older sister. No one is entirely sure what happened but somehow the attack force my parents were in were ambushed in their own camp and the explosives they had handy
well the camp was settled on the side of a mountain then suddenly it was at the bottom of the mountain. No one survived the attack. About a year after that my sister got sick and died. Ever since then I've been passed from pack to pack, and now I'm with Kellan.
You need any more help?
-No. I think that's it. It's more like a quiz then a test.
I frowned. Well that was a bust. If he doesn't need any help? How can I get my answers?
-What's wrong? Mad that your deal didn't work?
Maybe. But maybe I'm worried about Zeke and how I almost killed my dear beloved. I heard him snarl in my head. I laughed. Everyone in the class looked at me like I had just lost my mind. I quickly took out my phone. As Maria walked to my seat. I need you to text me.
Text me, something. Anything. I just got caught laughing at you and now Maria's on her way back here.
Maria reached my seat; she looked at me with fear in her eyes. Probably scared if she said the wrong thing to me I was going to snap. "What's so funny? Would you like to share with the rest of the class?" I smiled at her when my phone went off. Telling me I had a text. "No phones in class, Ms. Cryor. Hand it over. I'm sure you won't mind if I read your text message out loud." I shrugged and handed her my phone. Wasn't anything bad on it...was there?
"I can't wait to see you tonight in all your lingerie goodness. We can play another game of 'Wolf-man' soon as we get to your house?" She eyed me and read the rest of the message to herself. The context of the message steaming up her glasses. She handed the phone back to me stiffly. I quickly read the message myself. 'I'm sure your aunt won't mind if we use protection this time. My goal tonight: Do you harder and better then Zeke ever could.'
"Are you insane?!?" I heard Sam laugh in my head.
-You said anything.
I looked back up at my teacher. Some of the students got up and came to the back of the class to read over my shoulder. Eric (one of Zeke's friends) took the phone from me and read the message out loud. The girls giggled, and Koyia shot me a thumbs up. The guys whistled. Zeke's face went bright red. I took my phone back and quickly texted Sam back.
Thnx a lot Wolf man. Now the whole class knows what we do in our free time.
ROFL I meant it 2. C u @ 8
I rolled my eyes and closed my phone. You're horrible.
-You said anything love. Besides, this way I get to see if you really meant it about the Victoria Secret stuff.
I sighed. Maria eyed me again. She turned on her heel and went back up front to conduct class. After Spanish I met up with Sam, who was waiting for me outside the door. "Hey. How was class?" "Like you don't know 'Wolf man'." He laughed and threw his arm over my shoulder. "Maria called Ashley and told her about our plans." "Fine. Makes it more fun when we have to sneak and do it." I sighed and let him lead me to my next class.
-OUR next class. I'm working on changing all my classes to match yours.
"How sweet." He chuckled. "I'm surprised Ms. Harris didn't call on you during class. I mean before the text incident." "Their all frightened of me. I told you I make up for my badass behavior by being super smart. Teachers hate super smart kids. Makes them feel like they're not doing their job." He shrugged. "You got it all figured out. So when are we stopping by Victoria's Secret?" He said this as soon as we got into Language Arts. Great, two different classes know the rumor now. It'll be all over school before lunch. I glared at him. "WE'RE not going anywhere. If you keep putting us on blast like that." He pouted playfully. "Why don't we ditch now? I'm anxious to see what you're doing for our 4 month anniversary" I frowned. Our anniversary wasn't today
-Technically it's a week or so from now. But I'm very impatient.
He kissed my neck, probably making this class aware of my hickey too.
-Stop fussing. I wear yours proudly. Why don't you wear mine like that?
It's complicated. And can you please stop squeezing my butt in public. He smiled and pulled me closer to him. Both his hands on my butt. "You mean like this." He pressed me up against the wall. I could see a few kids pull out their cell phones over Sam's shoulder. "Sam. People are watching." "Let them. It's just me and you until Ms. Sims gets here." He kissed me hard on the lips. Then greedily down my jaw. I smiled at him then kissed him back. Pushing him backwards onto someone's desk. I looked down at him from where he had forced me to climb onto him. I kissed his neck while he worked on getting my shirt off.
-You feel better yet?
Not quite. He smiled again and took off his own shirt. Somehow we got onto Ms. Sims desk and Sam was doing all the things 'school appropriate' (as far as these situations goes) to get me to forget what happened this morning. I smiled as he nipped at my ear. But the fun was short lived. Ms. Sims deiced to come into her room and saw me and Sam all over her desk. I got off of Sam quickly. Sam smiled as he sat up. I found where he threw my shirt and pulled it on quickly. I found my book bag and walked to my seat. Sam found his shirt slowly, and made sure to flex his huge biceps as he found it. All the girls practically melted in their seats while they watched my boyfriend flex. Even Ms. Sims was smitten. I shook my head at Sam as he sat next to me. He stuffed his shirt in his bag. "You're going to walk around like THAT." "Why not? Not jealous are you?" I scoffed. "Why would I be?" He flexed his muscles, making a few girls on his right faint. "I don't know. Maybe because a few girls might be all over me." He motioned to Stacey, a girl that really didn't want her hands as she rubbed all up on MY boyfriend. I forced a smile. He WANTED me to be jealous. So I wasn't, at least not in front of him. "If that's what you want to do honey." He frowned. Clearly upset about how his plan didn't bring out the right reaction in me. He smiled darkly, and shrugged. "Fine." He got up from his desk and leaned over on Stacey's.
Then he flirted with her.
Right in front of me.
Alex got up from his seat (yes, I share a class with my little brother. We are only a few months apart.) And came over to me. "What's Samuel doing? You two in a fight or something?" "No. He's just trying to make me jealous. And it isn't working." I said this loud enough for him to hear. He showed no sign of hearing me. "Then why is he kissing her?"
I jumped up from my seat and gripped Stacey's pretty blonde weave. Giving it a nice, firm tug.
"Kiss this bitch!"
I pulled on her hair and she fell out of her chair. Sam smiled up at me. I glared at him. "You. You don't kiss anyone that's not me. Unless we're broken up. Got it." He smiled and kissed me on the lips. "You have my word." I crossed my arms over my chest. He sighed. "I'm sorry. I just wanted you to know how I feel when Zeke and other guys eye you." I smiled. As I took my seat again. After Language Arts was lunch. And Sam took my bag from me and carried it for me. He was still shirtless. I was half surprised none of the officials had called Samuel out for the obvious dress-code violation. He sat our book bags done at our usual table and left to get our lunch. "For an animal you sure are a gentlemen." He laughed as he sat down and handed me my lunch. "I've found it very hard to keep your interest in me. So I have to layer the charm on thick, until you stop thinking of me as animal." "You'll be waiting for a long time." I took a bite out of my apple. "I can wait. I've waited this long to get to know you. I can wait a little longer." I watched him devour his food; my eyes flicking to his bare chest between bites. He was done in like 3 minutes. "3 minutes. That's a new record." He laughed nervously. Rubbing the back of his neck, while I watched how his biceps moved and flexed as he did so. I cleared my throat. "C-can you put your shirt on please?" He looked down at himself. "Why? This bothering you?" He motioned to his huge chest and perfect 6-pack. "It-It's distracting. I'm trying to have a serious conversation and you just keep flexing." He smiled. And crossed his arms on the table and leaned toward me. My eyes going wide when I saw how the muscles on his neck stood out.
He was just so big.
"St-Stop that. You're doing it on purpose." "What are you talking about?" He yawned and stretched his arms. His chest looking bigger as he did so. "I'm serious. Please, just put your damn shirt on. You're doing this on purpose so that I can't ask you questions about what you are." He shrugged. "Don't know what you're talking about." He flexed both of his arms. Making three girls crash into a wall because they were too busy watching my boyfriend's huge biceps. He smiled at me. That same welcoming smile that he had shown me the day he had told me what he was. I swallowed. My mouth feeling dry. I closed my eyes and looked away from his body. "Doesn't it bother you that I can only look at your body and not your face?" "Sometimes. Like when I told you about me. I was trying to be serious and you keep staring at my chest or my torn pants. But not now. It's funny to watch you and all the other girls here drool over me."
"Can you put your shirt on please? I'm begging you. You can take it off after I ask 4 questions. Just please. Cover up." He sighed. "Fine." I opened my eyes and watched him pull on the shirt he had borrowed from my dad. "Happy?" "Extremely. Why do you eat so much?" He shrugged. "I guess I have the appetite of a wolf and a human. Speaking of which." He nodded towards my lunch. "Take it." I grabbed my lemon aid before sliding my lunch over to the living trashcan that was my boyfriend. He looked down at my-his pizza. "I guess I should probably stop eating your lunch huh. I'm probably starving you." I shook my head. "It's okay. Besides you need it more than I do." He took a bite of pizza. "That's 1." I smiled. "How do you become a werewolf?" "Why? Thinking about a species change?" "No. I'm just curious." That strange image from my dream ran through my head. I've been dying to know. Is that my future? "I still don't understand. You seem afraid of the dream. But you don't consider it a nightmare." "Nope. You first." He sighed. "You can be born a werewolf like me. Or you can be turned." "Let me guess. If you get bitten by a werewolf. You turn into one." He chuckled. "Not exactly. You can only be turned if that werewolf wants to turn you. Otherwise. You're just lucky as hell if you can walk away from a werewolf attack." "So that means you're poisonous?" "No". He took a bite of pizza and offered me a bite. Of course I took it. He smiled softly.
-She trusts me so much already. Didn't even hesitate. Not like I'm poisonous. But still.
I smiled. "Looks like it's your turn to learn how to control your telepathic flow." He smiled at me. "That's 2." "What does it feel like to change?" His smile vanished instantly. "Next." "Sam." "Next." I crossed my arms over my chest. "You said you'd answer any question." He sighed. "Hell. It feels like hell. Having your spine and ribs reshape while all you can do is just sit there and scream. The worst part is the muzzle. When your face grows out really slow and painful. I think its god's way of kicking us in the can. Saying 'Here! Take this you stupid mutt!" He shook his head. "The fur and the tail isn't that bad. It's just those damn fleas that'll drive you up a wall." I giggled. "You get fleas?" "Sometimes. When I'm out hunting in a forest or something." I frowned. "I don't remember any screaming." "It gets easier as you get older. Besides you didn't notice my transformation at all. You're surprisingly unobservant when your attention is otherwise diverted." I chuckled. "I was kinda absorbed." He smiled. "We should probably apologize to your aunt. We did do it. Just not when she thought we did." "I highly doubt it'll make a difference in her current state of mind." He laughed. "You're probably right." I stared at him hard. "So I could be pregnant." He smiled. "I highly doubt it. If you had conceived. I would be able to smell it. You know, raging hormones?" He turned his head looking confused for a moment before looking back at me. "What's up?" "Your friends. Their talking about us." "Anything good?" "They say its okay that you don't hang out with them anymore. It's worth it to see you happy again. Alexis hopes you'll invite them to the wedding." He chuckled. "Koyia said if you don't have my baby first." I felt my face flush and looked to my friends' table. I made a mental note to call them later. I looked back at Sam. "How do you know?" "Remember, my sense stay heightened even through I'm not in my wolf form. I can hear them." He growled softly. "I also hear Zeke plotting on you. Plotting on a way to blame me for the fact that you almost killed him." He eyed me strangely. "I'm starting to think it is my fault." "I do what I want. When I want. No one tells me what to do. It's not your fault I snapped. That was a long time coming." He shrugged then he smiled. "And that's 4." He took off his shirt and put it back in his book bag. I rolled my eyes. "You can still answer my questions." He shrugged. "If you can stay focused." "What happened to my parents?" He looked away from me. "Sam? Sam answer me. You did say any question." But he continued to ignore me.
-Some many things to tell her. But how to make her see. The truth about her past?
Impossible. She turn away from me.
"You're holding back. Your hiding. But what I can't decide. Why won't you tell me" "Amy the world for once is in perfect harmony. Please. Just leave the past where it belongs." "But Sam I want to know. I have a right to." "Your right. And in a perfect world I would do what's best for you. But I'm too selfish. I can't lose you. Not
now." "Samuel what are you talking about? Answer me."
-In your reflection. She lives in you.
"Sam what's going on? You keep talking like I'm going to die." He hesitated. "I-I'll tell you later. But right now we have to go, or we'll be late for class." I looked around the lunchroom. We were pretty much alone. It was like we were in our own little universe. Existing outside of time and space. The only thing alive being us. Sam grabbed my hand and both of our book bags and towed me to class. Matthew hadn't started class yet so we hurried to our table. I looked at Sam. Why wouldn't he tell me what happened to my parents?
-Later I promise. Love will find a way.
He squeezed my hand under the table. I wanted later to be now. I looked at him confused. Love will find a way? What did that mean? Matthew came into the room, he had a black eye. I looked at Sam. My mind automatically jumping back to the fight him and Zeke had been in, and how he almost hit Ashley.
-I wasn't planning on hitting Ashley.
I rolled my eyes. Still wondering why he was being so weird. "Did you hit Matthew?" "No. He wasn't near me during either fights." Matthew cleared his throat and fixed his messed up shirt. "Okay class today we will be studying small unicellular organisms. Any questions?" Alex raised his hand. (Didn't I mention we shared classes?) "Yea, what happened to your face? (he chuckled) did Samuel get to you too?" The whole class laughed. Matthew cleared his throat. Why was he staring at me? I sure as hell didn't jack up his face. With guys I target below the belt; you know the 'Golden Spot'. "Any other questions?" Maxwell raised his hand. "Why didn't you answer Alex's question?" "If you all must know, another student got upset and expressed her- their anger physically." He looked directly at me. What was his deal? "Any other questions?" The whole class raised their hands. "That don't involve my face or the person who dealt the damage." All the hands went down. "Okay then. Let's begin.-" I raised my hand. "Amy?" I stood up. "What's your deal? You keep staring at me when you talk about whoever jacked up your face. If you think I did it why don't you just say so?" "Fine Ms. Cryor. I don't think you hit me. I know. You approached me before school clearly not in your right mind with some other young gentlemen that wasn't Samuel. You two tried to break into the school, and I tried to stop you. Then with the young man's encouragement. You punched me in the face. You two were gone before I got off the ground." I crossed my arms over my chest. "That's a lie. I have more important things to do then try and break into this stupid school. And I'm not a slut. I go with one guy at a time." Matthew sighed. "Fine, you may have been intoxicated at the time but it was you Ms. Cryor I'm positive of that. After you and the young gentlemen disappeared I found this." He held up my mother's necklace. She had given it to me on my 5 birthday. I had completely forgotten I ever had it. "How did you get that?" "It was not five feet from me Ms. Cryor where you disappeared into thin air." He turned to Alex. "Is this your sister's?"
"Was she wearing it yesterday?"
"I don't know. She kind of wasn't wearing anything when my aunt and I got home." Alex smiled darkly at me. "Neither was Sam." A few kids snickered. I felt my face flush. "How about the day before yesterday then?" "Yeah actually. I helped Ashley take it off her when she came home a couple days ago. It looked like her neck was bitten by something. Something that wasn't human." I glanced at Sam. "Ashley said that the chain was going to heal inside of her neck if we didn't take it off."
"Was the chain where you left it this morning?"
"No. But she couldn't have done it. I didn't tell her where we put the necklace; I don't think Ashley did either. And she's been too preoccupied to notice that she doesn't have it." Matthew frowned. I smiled. "See? A solid alibi. I didn't do it." Matthew ignored me and turned to Sam. "What about you Samuel? You seem to spend a lot of time with Amy.
Where was she early this morning?"
"In bed. With me."
"How do I know you're not lying to save your girlfriend?" "Check her neck. There's a hickey on each side. And I have one on the right side of my neck. And she's bruised from the chest, down. As am I." Matthew still didn't seem convinced. Sam sighed and stood up next to me. "What are you doing?" "Clearing your name love. Lift up your shirt." "What? No! I rather get suspended!" He shrugged and gripped the bottom of my shirt. I put my hands on his wrist. "No. I did it. I'm guilty. I snuck out while you were still sleep. Y-You're just my side guy. I met up with Martin on my way here. Now get off of my shirt." He rolled his eyes. And lifted up my shirt. Actually he took the whole thing off. Now we were both shirt less. Only difference is that I have a bra on. I covered my chest. "What the hell is wrong with you?!? My baby brother's in here!" Sam rolled his eyes. "Stop fidgeting or your bras coming off to." I glared at him. "You wouldn't dare."
He moved closer to me, I stepped back. He gripped my waist and turned me to face the front of the class. All the guys (expect Alex) looked straight at me. Their eyes glued to my breast. "What are you a 'B' cup?" I glared at Maxwell. "None of your business pervert." "Hey I'm not the one who just took your shirt off." He turned to Sam. "What is she 'A' cup, double 'B'?" Sam tightened his grip on my waist I looked up at his face. He was smiling. I rolled my eyes. All guys are just alike, even werewolf guys. "She's a 'C' cup actually." I glared at Samuel. That type of information isn't supposed to leave the bedroom. "Relax, at least this way he knows your innocent." "Fine. If you see my boobs all over Facebook, don't get mad at me." He chuckled and kissed my neck. I pushed him away from me. "Don't touch me right now." I walked around him to get my shirt, but he was faster and he got it before I did. He smiled at me. "Give me my shirt." "Not yet." He looked at Matthew. "See. From the breast down, she's bruised." "Yes I do see, now do you mind giving Ms. Cryor back her shirt." Sam held the shirt up to me, like he was going to put it on for me. I let him but as soon as my shirt was over my head, I felt heavier, in the chest area. I realized Sam had my bra in his hands. All the guys hollered with laughter. I felt my face get extremely hot. "What the hell is wrong with you?!?" I snatched my bra from him. He laughed at me. He was laughing at me. Then something snapped inside of my brain. Some vicious emotion was building up inside of me, as I glared at Samuel. I felt tears well up in my eyes. "Awe come on Ames. I was just kidding." "You're an jerk! Just like Zeke. You're both the same!" I ran out of the room, trying not to cry until I was safely outside. I climbed the ladder at the back of the school and climbed onto the roof. I leaned against some bricked wall. I had gotten used to doing this all of last year. I pulled my knees to my chest and cried into my hands. It was Zeke's stupid party all over again. Then I heard Sam in my head. He wasn't talking to me but it was more like I was hearing his conversation through him. It was really weird.
-What's up with Amy? I was just joking. "Well you picked the wrong girl to pull that prank on."
That was Alex.
- "Zeke pulled the same stunt at one of his drinking parties last year. It was the party she left me at school for. It was the night our parents died. She left me here so she could go with Zeke. But Zeke tried to push her to go the distance, and she wasn't ready. He took her shirt off and ran downstairs with it. He waved it around like some kind of flag. Then he took her bra, and made fun of her in front of half the school." That's why she got so upset. I made her relive one of her worst memories. "Yea and if you weren't 4 times my size I'd teach you a thing or two. It took my sister forever to live that moment done and you just made her do it all over again. She feels like a murder because of Zeke. Because he made her leave me and then she had to call our parents to come and get her then they had to drive to come get me. Then the damn car crashed and both of my parents were killed. A police officer had to come and take me home. You better go and apologize to my sister then it won't matter how big you are. I'll cut you down to size.'"
I smiled softly. Alex was ready to defend me no matter who he was up against. We were responsible for each other.
-Amy where are you?
Leave me alone. I don't want to see you.
-Either you can tell me where you are or I can hunt you down. Your choice.
There's a ladder at the back of the school. I'm on the roof.
"Amy? What are you doing up here?" "Leave me alone." "Hey are you crying?" He sat next to me. How he get up here so fast? "Are you okay?" I ignored him. Hoping he would take a hint and leave me the hell alone. "I'm sorry. I didn't know about the party. Believe me, it wasn't my goal to make you upset." I looked over at him. He smiled at me. "I know you didn't mean to hurt me. You're nothing like Zeke." He smiled and pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. I laid my head against his shoulder. He put his arm around me and gave my shoulders a firm squeeze. "Am I off the hook?" "For what event?" "The bra prank?" "Yeah you're off the hook."
"What about your parent's death?"
I hesitated. Was he off the hook? I sighed; I couldn't stay mad at him. Not even over something so major like the fact that my parents aren't breathing anymore. Hell there wasn't even anything left to bury. One second my parents are screaming and blood is everywhere. And the next there isn't anything there but blood and my mother's glasses. Again I asked, was he off the hook? "I don't blame you. At least not anymore." He kissed my forehead. "Come on, you feel like braving class for another half hour?"
"Feel like ditching?"
"Hell yes. But I should probably tell Alex. I don't want to leave him without him knowing." He shrugged. "If that's what you want babe." We climbed down the ladder and headed back to Biology. When I entered the classroom and everything went quite. Guys snickered when they saw Sam rub my back. I went straight to Alex's table, his friend Mark said hi to me. I nodded in response. "I'm ditching the rest of 5th period. And I probably won't be home when you and Ashley get there." Matthew spoke up. "You will do no such thing now both of you take your seats." I glared at Matthew, and he shrunk away from my gaze. Maybe there was an upside to the whole 'giving the biology teacher a black eye' thing. I turned my attention back to Alex; he was looking at Sam who was still at the door. He looked back at me. "Do me a favor. Be safe okay? I'm too young to become an uncle." I rolled my eyes. "Not you too. I've told Ashley and now I'm telling you. I have no desire what so ever of becoming a teenage mother." I wrinkled my nose. "And lay off the stuff. You reek." He smiled and I turned to leave. Stopping only to get my book bag and Sam's. I handed it to him on my way out the door. I waved at my friends through the windows of the doors to their classes. Then suddenly I noticed Sam's car parked in the very first space. "Didn't we walk here? How in the hell did your car end up here?" He shrugged and we walked to his car, "Start the car while I get the front gate open." I always wondered what he did to get the gate open. I usually hoped the fence when I ditched by myself and the fact that I always walked to school. But every time we ditched in the middle of school, he got the gate open and we drove away to have our fun. The gate doors open and Sam hoped in the driving seat. "Let's go baby. The weekend starts now." I laughed. "It's Thursday Sam." "I know. It's the last day of the full moon for the month." I nodded to myself; it was so easy to forget he was more than human. "Where are we going today?" "I'm taking you home to meet the family." "You mean the pack?" "Whatever. I think it's time you meet them. That is if you aren't too afraid to meet the people responsible for your parent's death." I scoffed. "I'm not afraid of a bunch of over grown dogs. Besides, I've spent most of my time this past year plotting on the bastards who killed my parents. Uh, no offense." "None taken. Kellan will be surprised to see you though." "Why?" "Most survivors don't make their way back to our world. You're probably the first to make it back within a year." I grimaced. "Yay me." He chuckled. He stared at me the whole time he drove there. He ran lights more than once and it earned him a few fingers, and horn honks. But otherwise he just stared at me. He imitated his way out of a $100 dollar ticket, when a cop pulled us over. I was awestruck as he drove past all the major parts of the town to the more remote places. Deep into the Virginian wilderness. Forest was on both sides of the road. "How far into the ghetto are we going?" I looked away from some of the few houses that were scattered along the road side which were mostly crack houses. "Nice. This is my home you're talking about." "Sorry." "Besides. Don't you remember coming out this far? You followed me almost half way home that day. I'm sure you used one of the busier routes though." I shrugged. "Would you be mad if I told you I blocked most of that night out?" He smiled. "Not really." We drove for another 10 minutes then he pulled onto a dirt road. I vaguely remembered driving around in circles around this area that night I looked for Sam. He stopped in front of his house.
I smiled. "Bring it on."
