Ok so a bunch of people are freaking out as Dec. 21st gets closer and just recently kids at my school have been talking about the '3 Days of Darkness". According to a text my friend Donesha got from her ex-boyfriend Tyler yesterday ( I live in a sitcome apparnetly ) some kind of plantery aligment is going to happen on the 21st that will cause complete darkness for the earth for 3 days.
Of course no one believed this, today we asked one of the chemsitry teachers at school that do way too much, and actually watch the news and follows theis type of stuff. She said that there was some truth to this and it might actually happen. She also told us to come up with a safety plan just in case people loose their ever-loving-minds during the global black-out and try to take stuff.
I of course love all of my stuff so I decied to research for myself. I found this NASA Q&A forumn all about 2012. >www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/feat…<. If you guys want to check it out, knock yourselves out.
Anyway here the direct quote I found: "Absolutely not. Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization is predicting such a blackout. The false reports on this issue claim that some sort of "alignment of the Universe" will cause a blackout. There is no such alignment (see next question). Some versions of this rumor cite an emergency preparedness message from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. This is simply a message encouraging people to be prepared for emergencies, recorded as part of a wider government preparedness campaign. It never mentions a blackout."
Apparnetly Tyler must have sent out the orginial message from this Bolden guy and we mistook the information. Although the version of the message I saw DID mention a blackout that was supposed to start at 1am UTC time and it went on about how amazing the alignment was and how we haven't seen one in 11 million years.
I guess the only real question is: Do we trust the internet? Or the Government?

I met the President...
Today was truly a once in a life-time experience. I can not believe that the President of all people, would grace my school Bladensburg High School with a personal visit. And trust me, Blade is not known as the best school on anyone's list. Getting to meet President Obama was so cool! Since the assembly ended some 5 hours ago, I've had friends and family calling and texting me, telling me that they saw me during the live feed. Its so amazing and I can barely believe it happened.
The POTUS presented a grant to our school that's worth about $7 million dollars! Well, not to just our school. It was to Prince George's County period, and we k
Please welcome the POTUS...
So tomorrow there will be an assembly at my school. The guest of honor? The freaking President of the United States! The assembly was supposed to be a huge surprise for the advanced STEM students (of which I am) but my friend Juan found this article on MSNBC. Us children were asked to arrive at the school at 8:30, a full hour and a half early on Friday with no other motivation than "it will be worth your while." Of course now that we know that the POTUS is coming, everyone and their mother is going to be at the school before the crack of dawn.
I wonder if I could get away with taking a selfie with the President...guess we'll see. :shrug:
Oh
The Results Are In...
Today I got my long awaited SAT scores from when I took the test on Feb. 26. And all I have to say is :squee:
I mean OMG, my first time taking the test and I walk away with a score of 1690. That's the second highest score in my AP Lang class! (the highest being a 1750)
Breakdown: Critical Reading: 600 Math: 510 Writing: 580
My math score wasn't nearly as terrible as I thought it would be, and right now I could get into 3 out of 5 of my college choices! That's Indiana University PA, North Carolina A&T State, and Goucher College MD. My cumulative GPA right now is a 3.9, so I don't really need to retake the SAT. I could stop now and be ok
SAT = Seriously. Aggrandized. Test.
Yesterday, on February 26,2014 I took for the SATs for the first time ever. And after sitting for this colossal, monstrous test that could make or break my future college career I walked away feeling underwhelmed. I mean this test is probably the most hyped up test you will ever sit in your entire life and all I have to say about it is meh. Of course the fact that I've taken the PSATs twice, on top of attending a SAT prep class as well as summer college experiences classes may have something to do with my attitude. Taken all that into account, on top of the fact that apparently the SAT has been 'mainstream' since my parents and teachers h
